12. Cigar Aficionados Dream

As we all know, one of the highlights of the Chelsea Gala each year is the assortment of fine cigars that magically appear and are enjoyed by Gala attendees at the end of the evening. This year brings forth a special tribute to this tradition, with Chelsea’s own cigar and scotch masterminds sharing their aficionado tastes in a personally-selected compilation of their favorites. An expertise developed by over 50 combined years of cigar smoking and scotch drinking informs this premier selection. Our Headmaster Felix Hernandez has artfully assembled the cigar offering, while our Chairman of the Board Doug McCarthy has selected the perfectly handsome Humidor to house your priceless collection. Two of our newest board members, Jim Kelly and Suzanne Stanmeyer, have stepped up to the plate with a Scotch selection reserved for the best.

A variety of premium cigars for a distinguished palate abound in this amazing package. The recipient of this dream will enjoy a variety of sophisticated flavors and aromas, and have plenty of space to store them in their professional-grade, 300 count Cigar Cooler/Humidor, which is seasoned and ready for use.  Sort your vast array of smokes while sipping a glass of 18 year single malt Glenmorangie Scotch and reading your new copy of A Field Guide to Whisky, which is sure to make a whisky expert out of anyone!

Cigar Cooler/ Humidor – 300 count – keeps cigars at a constant temperature and humidity. This Humidor features Spanish Cedar drawers and shelves as well as closed loop air circulation.

Included with this Humidor are four boxes of premium cigars rated by Cigar Aficionado magazine:

  • CAO America Potomac, box of 20.  This blend boldly showcases a four country long-filler mix of Dominican, Nicaraguan, Italian, and American tobaccos.  CAO America is a robust, medium to full-bodied cigar that earned an impressive 92-rating.
  • H.Upmann 1844 Robusto, box of 20.  The H. Upmann 1844 Reserve features a dark, reddish-brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and all-Dominican long-filler blend.  The result is a smooth, medium-bodied cigar. H. Upmann 1844 Reserve earned a spot in the Top 25 cigars of the Year and received a stellar, 93-point rating.
  • La Aroma de Cuba Robusto, box of 24.  Made by Jose ‘Don Pepin’ Garcia in Nicaragua, La Aroma de Cuba is a bold blend of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long fillers inside a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.  Medium to full in body, La Aroma de Cuba received a 93-point rating
  • Nat Sherman Metropolitan Habano Robusto, box of 18. This medium bodied cigar, handcrafted in the Dominican Republic, received a 91-point rating in 2017. Draped in an oily wrapper, this fat cigar has a lush draw that offers big notes of roasted nuts, coffee bean and caramel.  The finish is toasty and leathery. (Take that, wine reviewers!)

Glenmorangie 18 Year Old Extremely Rare Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Part of Glenmorangies’s Prestige Range, this 18 year old Scotch spent its first 15 years in American white oak bourbon casks.  Afterward, 30% was transferred to, and finished in, Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for three years. The whisky was then reunited and bottled at 43% ABV.  The result is a thick, creamy, and fruity single malt presented in an elegant bottle. This single malt Scotch earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2010.
