Students Prepare to Study in France
Upper School students said au revoir and wished Catalina C. and Claire S. best wishes as they prepare to study in France for the second semester. Catalina and Claire will be studying at La Sauque, a Catholic boarding school located near Bordeaux. The girls will be immersed in the French culture for the entire spring semester by taking all academic classes in French, experiencing student life at a Catholic boarding school, and spending weekends with host families who will welcome the girls into their homes.
Interested students at Chelsea apply each spring to study in France. The requirements for the exchange program include current enrollment in French III or IV, a minimum of a B average in all currently enrolled classes, strong academic success for the past three years, social maturity, and interest and ability to learn through immersion abroad. Applicants must also write an essay expressing their motives and desire to study in France, submit two letters of recommendation , and participate in an interview in French.
This year marks the third year for the French Exchange Program at Chelsea Academy.
Last year’s French Exchange participants Fiona B., Andrew F. , and Angie S. extend best wishes to Catalina and Claire.
